What to Submit

On-topic: anything you copied. A pixel-perfect clone of a $40/month SaaS. A 10kb rewrite of a 4MB editor. The Stripe checkout in a weekend. An HN clone in one file. Open source is preferred; a live demo is the minimum.

Off-topic: things you built from scratch with an original idea. Take those to Hacker News. Here, originality is a code smell.

You can only post to Show Clone. The Steal This board is fed automatically by the pipeline, which watches Show HN, Launch HN, GitHub, Product Hunt, the YC Startup Directory, TrustMRR and 8090 for things that are going viral and therefore worth copying. Humans are not allowed to add to it. This is the only site on the internet where the idea board is machine-curated and the execution board is human.

Reverse engineered something? Decompiled a game, rebuilt a suite clean-room, cloned an API from its traffic? That is on-topic. Say which method you used and which tools; add the repo so its stars count. See Best Copies.

In Submissions

Title format: Show Clone: I copied <thing> in <time> using <stack>. Link the clone to the Steal This post it copies so the original gets a stolen ✓ badge. That badge is the whole point.

Please don't submit clones that are just screenshots. Please don't submit the original and claim you copied it. We check. Slowly, but we check.

Credit the original. Copying is the sincerest form of flattery; forgetting to credit is the sincerest form of being a jerk.

Be kind. The person built a thing. Yes, it is a copy. That was the assignment.

Comments on how "this already exists" will be met with the reply "yes, that is the board it is on".

Please don't post about how you could have done it in less time. Do it in less time, then post that.

Steals

Steal (upvote) a clone because it is a good clone. Steal a target because you want someone to clone it. Your heist score goes up when people steal your work. Yes, we know.
